  1. If there was ever a need for proof that corruption existed in the FSL, all you have to do is take a look at this year’s Elevation tournament. The PanEm All-Stars? A bunch of reality-show darlings are in contention? Seriously? How many referee palms got greased to give these kids a ride? As much as it galls me to say this, I would rather see the Serenity Valley Fireflies reinstated as a top-league team than have the standards of the FSL sink to a level that would allow a waste of space like PanEm fill an Elite Eight slot.

    • Since you mention them, I would rather see the Flys than the Guardians in the FSL next year. I like my misfits a little more grounded.
This from a guy that still wears his Sandworms T-shirt out in public.

  2. Far be it from me to throw out words like “corruption”, but if a team like the Guardians gets elevated ahead of a franchise like Detroit Autobots or the Voyagers, just reeks of an attempt at a quick cash-in. I would like to know exactly what the FSL Selection Committee has in their minds.

I will hold my tongue regarding teams from the International Anime League. I understand that the FSL Committee looks at Anime League teams as a little foreign and maybe a little too weird for mainstream audience, but as someone who has been freelancing for Dragon Sports Talk Radio covering the IAL for a few years now, I can honestly say that the crossover appeal is there. The language barrier won’t be a problem, and the numbers are legit.

This year’s elevations will definitely be one to watch.

    • I agree with you, Djm. The flavors might be somewhat different, but the talent and the appeal is most definitely there. Teams like the Luna City Sailors and the Titan Strikers have been one of my favorite to watch these past few years. These teams need their time in the spotlight.

  3. Well, this seems like a done deal. As much as I like the Senators, they have very little chance of success against the Master and the powerhouse Skaro Exterminators.

As for the elevation tourney, I hope the Guardians win. While they aren’t the most well-known or best team out there, I’d take them over the reality show, celebrity-wannabes from the Panem All-Stars.

In the final moments of the elevation poll, I’d just like to point out that the Republic City Benders would be superb on this league. Just sayin’.
